Ephedra Is It legal
Diet, slimming and weight loss products conntaining the substance Ephedra have been subject to numerous investigations with regard potentially serious side effects.
Mid 2004 the FDA (Food and Drug Administration – the US equivelent of the UK’s MHRA) imposed a ban in the US on all diet pills from containing Ephedra.
One year down the line the ban was lifted with the FDA needing further proof that taking the recommended Ephedra dosage does without doubt cause a danger to health.
What Is Ephedra
Ephedra is cultivated from the Ephedra Sinicia plant and more widely known as Ma Huang.
Mu Huang has a history of use dating back centuries and used historically by the Chinese to create medicines and remedies aimed at treating allergies and asthma.
Probably best know in the form of Mu Huang Tea. Ephedra is thought to aid weight as well as boost or increase energy levels.
In more recent year Ephedra based diet pills have been thought responsible for cases of severe reaction and side effects, some resulting in death – hence the investigation and subsequent ban.
Diet pills containing or based around Ephedra are also not available in the UK. A derivative known as Ephedrine is also not available.
*Ephedra and diet products containing Ephedra cannot be bought legally in the UK nor available via prescription
Side Effects Of Ephedra
Ephedra is known to cause a wide range of health hazards – some potentially fatal. Common experienced side effects include.

Alternatives To Ephedra
In its day Ephedra was considered a powerful fat burner but nowadays (even if the substance was available to buy legally) its effect has been negated by the creation of newer diet products that are more effective whilst remaining free from side effects.
